United She Stands Project

Girls in Gis and Sweaty Betties, two of the oldest women’s jiu-jitsu groups in the United States, have joined forces to launch the “United She Stands” project in order to provide opportunities to cultivate a supportive, motivating and unifying culture to help our community get through these uncertain times. We believe that by coming together we all benefit. Together, women can do more, go further and change the world for the better.

Our goal is to foster a network that allows women and girls of jiu-jitsu to connect, support and learn from one another through online training. We also aim to advocate and support women as instructors and leaders within the jiu-jitsu community by providing paid teaching opportunities.

Our 5th class will feature 5X World Champion Black Belt Gezary Matuda.  Gezary is one of the top competitors of her generation and known for having “the most exciting style in BJJ”. A style which has led to several IBJJF World and Pans Championships titles at the black belt level.

Gezary will be teaching a 1.5 hour interactive Zoom class open to anyone ages 9+, all skill levels and school affiliations. This interactive zoom class will have you sweating with some BJJ solo drills. Gezary will share some of her favorite no-gi techniques and the class will end with a Q&A. This class is donation based. Donations are on a sliding scale. A portion of the proceeds go toward providing paid teaching opportunities for our instructors.
