Kimmie Agena has always enjoyed martial arts, but fell head over heels in love with Brazilian jiu-jitsu back in 2007.  She is a brown belt training under Relson Gracie Black Belt, Shane Agena.  Previously, she had been an avid Bikram yoga practitioner, but the mental and total body workout she got from jiu-jitsu soon became her new addiction and lifestyle.  She is grateful to be able to share this lifestyle with her husband & 4-year-old daughter, Aria. A family that trains together, stays together.

She continues to enjoy training, competing & teaching jiu-jitsu.  It has allowed her to meet so many wonderful people along the way.  She organizes monthly female open mats in her association, hoping to create a fun environment for women to strengthen the mind & body, as well as build long lasting friendships.

Kimmie’s jiu-jitsu journey has been so fun, addictive and challenging, that she wishes she had started earlier in her 20’s when her friend, now husband, first told her about it in the late 90’s. But it shows, that it’s never too late to start training Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
