Yara Helmy is a brown belt in Jiu Jitsu. She has been training since 2012 and is an avid competitor which include several super fights with several promotion companies including F2W. She loves seeing the amount of women who train continue to grow every year. Other than training and lifting all the time, she recently started her own baking business where she makes custom cakes and other baked goods. She loves baking and hopes to one day quit her real job. She also holds two bachelors, one in biology and one in nutrition with an emphasis in dietetics. She is now working on her masters and hope to one day be a sports dietitian to help Jiu Jitsu athletes.
Nancy Helmy is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Brown Belt. She has been training for 9 years. Her and her sister Yara Helmy are a part of the Girls in Gis NJ chapter. When she is off the mats, she works in healthcare. She has a masters in public health and global studies.
Sophie Sharp is fifteen years old and lives in New Jersey. She is an orange belt training out of Bayshore BJJ & Asbury Park Jiu-Jitsu. She has been training for almost 5 years having started her journey in January 2017. She is a Kid’s Instructor at Bayshore BJJ and is looking forward to teaching Women’s Classes in the future. She embraces the title of “Role Model” both on and off the mats. Her main goal is to bring more women to our sport, and make Jiu-Jitsu a safe environment for all.
