For many they woke up today to news that has brought us one step closer towards our fight for equality when it comes to women’s opportunities as competitors in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Effective today women now have the option to register in divisions Masters 1-7 for the 2018 Pan Jiu Jitsu IBJJF Championship.
As to what led to this decision? Was it the pressure from the community through online discussions, petitions and emails? Or was it simply just dollars and cents?
As history has proven in the past, it is never just one that brings change it is the many that take a stance together. There is strength in solidarity! In order to bring more change, we must continue to stand together. The opportunity is now there for the taking and the rest is up to us to bring these changes to more competitions. Let’s get out there and fill these brackets!

Girls in Gis is committed to helping Master’s Women compete at the Pan Ams! We will be awarding TWO scholarships for Master women to compete at the 2018 IBJJF Pan Championship!!
If you want to compete in the Master’s divisions, but are financially unable to please apply for our scholarship and in your essay please indicate this application is for the 2018 IBJJF Pan Championships.
The scholarship recipients will be determined and awarded February 12th.
