Girls in Gis Oklahoma Special Event Recap & Photos

GIG group OKLabor Day weekend kicked off with the Girls in Gis Oklahoma Special Event in Broken Arrow Oklahoma! Proving once again that Jiu-Jitsu is the glue that sticks us together. No matter where we are in the world, no matter what team we represent, or belt we wear around our waist,  we are all a part of the Jiu-Jitsu family.  Although we are from different teams, academies, lifestyles, backgrounds, cultures and regions, Jiu-Jitsu breaks those barriers. And GIG events help to bring us together so that we can discover that we have a lot more in common than we think.

In total ,eight-four females ranging in ages from six to sixty-four shared the mats together through the three hour event. Twenty-Seven different academies were represented on the mats and fourteen females shared their first introduction to Jiu-Jitsu.

Summer’s natural leadership abilities and expertise on the mats shined through as she lead the women and girls through a series of technical Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu sequences, choke holds and submissions.

A huge amount of in-kind donations were raised for this women and children’s shelter in Tulsa Oklahoma.

9970_636029586428867_1555733724_nThis was the first event of its kind in Oklahoma and judging by the turnout, GIG will be back!  GIG  OKlahoma wouldn’t have been possible if not for the support and generosity of Triton Fight Center, Summer Krause-Wilhelm, Piet Wilhelm, Triton Fight Center Female team and all of our sponsors. Thank you  also to our photographers Becky and Lauren. And thank you to everyone for making this event possible and for those who joined us in making history. Together we helped make a difference.
